The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (LAS) Division of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Division of Technical Sciences, the Visoriai Information Technology Park and the association INFOBALT are organizing the 12th LAS Young Scientists' Conference "Interdisciplinary Research in Physical Sciences and Technology". The conference is under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania.
The aim of the Young Scientists' Conference is to get acquainted with the research carried out by young scientists in the fields of mathematics, physics, biochemistry, chemistry, astronomy, space, defense and quantum technologies, electronics, informatics, mechanics, energy, materials science, civil engineering and their intersections, and to provide an overview of the issues of scientific interest to young scientists.
The conference will be organized in two thematic sections: physical sciences and technological sciences. Speakers are invited to present the results of their scientific research and development activities enabling the development and updating of the nomenclature of products/services, the improvement of technologies and their production and deployment in domestic and foreign markets, and studies on the impact of digitisation and digital technologies on economic and social activities.

The conference will take place at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences on 14 May 2024. The conference will consist of oral presentations (12 minutes, including 10 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for questions and answers) and poster presentations. The presentations will be followed by a discussion with Vytenis Buzas, a Lithuanian aeronautical engineer, the developer of the first Lithuanian Earth satellite "LituanicaSAT-1" and the head of the space mission, Paulius Vaitkevičius, the head of programming innovation at Novian, and Prof. Dr. Mažena Mackoit Sinkeviciene, a scientist at the Centre of Physical Sciences and Technology and a researcher at the Institute for Theoretical Physics and Astronomy of Vilnius University. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ieva Plikusienė, Chair of the Young Academy of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and Associate Professor at Vilnius University.
